In 1999, Hiromu moved to Tokyo in the summer to start her career in Manga world as an assistant to the author of Mahōjin Guru Guru, Hiroyuki Eto. The same year, Hiromu started her career with the Stray Dog’s publication in Square Enix’s Monthly Shonen Gangan Award. In 2000, she published a chapter of Shanghai Yomakikai in Monthly Shonen Gangan. Hiromu published the first chapter of a Japanese manga series, Fullmetal Alchemist, in July 2001. The series consists of 108 chapters. The series won one of Japan’s major manga awards, the 49th Shogakukan Manga Award in 2004.
