Colbert wanted to become a dramatic actor. He basically performed in experimental plays, and he was not interested in comedy. After his graduation, he desperately needed a job. One of his friends was working at Second City’s box office. He offered him work, answering phones and selling souvenirs. He accepted and started working. Colbert discovered that Second City employees were allowed to take classes at their training center, which was completely free of cost.

Despite his earlier aversion to the comedy group, he signed up for improvising classes and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. After that, Stephen was hired to perform with Second City’s touring company, initially as an understudy for a multi-talented personality Steve Carell. His full name is Steven John Carell (An American actor, comedian, writer, director, and producer).
